The working principle of the non-rotating wire rope:

The inner and outer layers are twisted in opposite directions. When the outer layer is subjected to the force in the opposite direction, the rotation force of the outer layer rope will be limited because the inner layer and the outer layer are twisted in the opposite direction, which will be appropriate. Reduce the rotation angle of the load-bearing object in the air.

However, when the free end of the wire rope rotates in the opposite direction to the outer strand, the inner rope will be tightened, which will shorten the inner strand and lengthen the outer strand. The outer strands are forced to bulge, causing the inner and outer strands to separate. If the separation is serious, the structure of the wire rope will be damaged, so that the load will be concentrated on the inner strands, the safety factor of the wire rope will be reduced, and the service life of the wire rope will be greatly reduced.

In order to prevent the separation of the inner and outer strands, the reason for the equal torsional moment of the inner and outer strands should be considered in the design and production.

  1. The twist directions of the inner and outer layers should be different.

  2. The diameter of each layer of yarn structure can be the same or different, but the same layer of yarn should be the same.

  3. If the non-rotating wire rope is made of different diameter wires, the thicker diameter should be used as the outer strand to increase the wear resistance and rigidity of the outer strand.

  4. The round strands are changed to special-shaped strands to increase the supporting area of the wire rope, the drum and the sheave.
